
The Angolan Data Protection Agency’s Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, Eng.ª Maria das Dores Pinto and her Cape Verdean counterpart, Dr. º Faustino Varela Monteiro, on Friday (24th February), signed an agreement that provides for cooperation in the fields of staff training, mutual support for integration into the international forums, as well as in the exchange of information related to telecommunications, e-commerce, credit and solvency.
On the occasion, Maria das Dores Pinto said that Cape Verde's current level of development in terms of data protection makes it capable of helping Angola to transform itself into a region with an adequate data protection.
According to the President of the CNPD, Faustino Varela Monteiro, due to the cultural similarities that unites the two peoples, there are no borders regarding the exchange of information, which will facilitate the expansion of the geographic area of data protection.
The Cape Verdean Personal Data Protection Authority´s delegation, headed by its President, was accompanied by Mr. Djamilson Pinto, a member of the CNPD.
It should be noted that Cape Verde was the pioneer in Africa in terms of legislation on the protection of personal data.
